In regards to luxury tax penalties, I read that the luxury tax limit amount is $76,900.000 & for luxury tax penalty level 1 is $81,300,000.

If my cap figure floats between $76,900,00 - $81,300,000, then there will be no penalties assessed, correct?

you would get the tax MLE next season instead of the full MLE, and you'd have to match salaries to 1.25x rather than 1.5x.

Do I have access to the MLE or not? The MLE / LLE penalties post says i have access to the MLE because I'm only in the lowest level of luxury tax. But the other post on who has access to each exception says I don't? Could anyone help me out, which one is right? Thanks

It looks like you’re currently 20 mil over the cap so you wouldn’t have access to the tax MLE.

If a player signs a QO and then gets traded in the NBA, their new team does not receive Bird Rights on the player

Does that same thing happen in DDS? Do we have any history of that?

actually i think i managed to answer my own question, Johnny Hamilton signed his QO last year with GSW, was traded to NYK during the season, and still has 5 years worth of Bird Rights listed this year as a FA with the Knicks Bird Rights.

So it does NOT work the same way as the NBA, so DDS is a little more team-friendly with that.

What is up with the Charges stat? Players seem to take an insanely large number of charges. For example, Troy Brown has taken 95 charges through 4 games. That's obviously an impossiblely unrealistic frequency. Is that a calculating glitch or are players legit creating turnovers via charges at that rate?

From what I understand, both postup and drive&shoot actions lead to either Rim or Paint finishes. Whether an action leads to either Rim or Paint finish has more to do with whether the player was able to get to the Rim, which is probably the result of factors such as the player's Rim rating, height, weight, scoring, handling, as well as the defender and defensive scheme.

I've never looked too closely at it though, so I could easily be wrong. Whether a big posts up or drive & shoots doesn't seem like it matters to me, but others may know more about that.

That’s a question I believe nobody will answer properly
We just try to keep it realistic so guards don’t play PF or C for example

Maybe the engine will put a player listed as PF at the 4 in case of foul trouble or who starts where in a AI generated DC, but other than that, you decide your depth chart and who plays where so it hardly matters.

Player position affects a few things:

1. Most importantly, what position group they fall under for training camp. The positional training they get will match their listed position.

2. Second most importantly: What positions they can play according to our league CBA. You can put a player in any lower position, but only one higher position. For example, since Tatum is listed as a SG, I can play him at PG (lower), SG (position), SF (one position higher), but not PF or CE. If I move him to SF next training camp, I could play him at PG, SG, SF, PF, but not CE. This isn’t a game function, by the way - it’s a league house rule.

3. It also impacts the game’s voting for things like All-Star game and All-League awards, which the game does by listed position - not what they actually play.

4. You still want to set what positions a player is eligible to play, because when there’s exhaustion (energy level falls below the minimum energy level you set) , foul trouble, or an injury, the game will look for the next eligible player to play that position, which is why depth chart order matters, too

Okay cool, thank you! I remember seeing somewhere certain players could be moved to other positions due to their outside shooting but didn’t know if what position they play effects defense, shooting, etc.

I've got 2 guys on my roster that I'm seeing with a team option (DeAaron Fox and Skal Labissiere). Is there a specific spot to post whether or not I'm going to exercise those team options? Or is there an option to do that in game?

Yeah, the admins will make a post shortly before Free Agency (I think it's usually called "contract decisions") where you can make a post with your team option decisions.

After the season is over, the admins always make a post with the off-season schedule. My guess is they will make that post in the next couple days. Just keep an eye out for it. You have some time though.
